HUGE Thanks to PetVentures Dog Walking being our first event-sponsor and for bringing Grizzly & Pickles for me to play with!!   Er… I mean… for bringing pups to serve as emotional support for nervous people (and also for me to play with). They were both incredibly well-behaved… once I stopped playing with them. When she’s not juggling snakes, Dinah-Mite Pythons is one half of the dynamic PetVentures team and it was pleasure to finally meet Yazmin! I’m SO thankful for ALL of my volunteers, Sarah, Sara, Kate-Lynn and it’s always a blessing when Dinah can bring some of her beautiful snakes. We were especially pleased to have Alisha come vend her beautiful snake sculptures (and less-interesting animals with creepy legs) at our event!

Thank you to EVERYONE for coming out and I’m so happy you made some great memories! My wife, Marsha, was at the door so we didn’t get many photos, but a few Moms graciously shared some great shots with me. If you have photos you’d like to share, please DM me! I love seeing the memories you made with my babies! My only real job is to help you see past the strange body shape so that you can see Susan, Gus and my other ambassadors as individuals… all with their own unique personalities and life-experiences Snakes live stealthy lives of mystery, leading to many assumptions & myths, so much of what we think we know about them is just wrong. The most frequent thing I’ve heard over these past three years is, “They’re nothing like I expected!”

There really are no magic tricks or “snake-whispering” powers involved. Snakes are simply nothing like their reputation, and much of what we think we know about them is wrong. With such alien creatures that live secretive lives, myths & misinformation prevail but they’re ultimately just shy, solitary animals, desperate to avoid larger animals like us. It’s actually quite simple to teach a snake that humans won’t hurt them… you just don’t hurt them. Week after week, with a few gentle techniques and patience, a snake will soon come to understand that we’re not a threat. Without any fear of us, we’re just something interesting to hug, climb & explore!

Huge thanks to everyone who came our to visit! You were all so considerate and gentle with my babies, and watching your anxiety melt away with joy is my favourite part of my job! I hope the lessons you taught yourselves helps you face other challenges too! It was wonderful to put faces to some names, and we even had another visit from viral painting sensation, Paintaholics Anonymous, and we helped her courageous Mom overcome her anxieties. We saw so much inspiring courage throughout our visit and I couldn’t be more proud of all of you! I’m incredibly proud of my entire community for being so welcoming and open-minded and I hope the entire natural world becomes endlessly fascinating to you, forever!

Between Josefs beats and the snake-hugs, the positivity was utterly palpable! Every face was glowing, every body swaying, and every smile beamed! We saw some amazing courage, and a few folks discovered for themselves just how AWESOME it feels to overcome anxiety! Seriously… it’s one of the most liberating, empowering feelings you can experience. You instantly feel 3 feet taller, so I hope all of you get the opportunity to experience that feeling for yourselves!

Friday night’s “Snakes & Breaks” at the @badeyesgallery was a resounding success! We had a fantastic, diverse turnout and Josef set the perfect musical vibe for us to enjoy the animals while shopping & chatting! Snakes are almost entirely deaf to airborne sounds, so we could freely enjoy the music & conversation without worrying about the noise disturbing them. @forpetessnakes Alice and her Mom visited us at the @badeyesgallery for our “Snakes & Breaks” event and Alice fell IMMEDIATELY in love with Wilson the ball python! Part of my job as a snake-educator is to monitor people’s responses, and Alice’s instant affection was so disarming to people, especially her Mom! Now, I always warn guests that my snakes don’t respect personal boundaries… but that’s not supposed to be an invitation! It was unbelievable how many snakes went exploring in shirts & jackets and even more bizarre was that everyone was so happy about it! Many fell in love with the gentleness of the pythons and boas, but others were absolutely tickled by the wacky shenanigans of the corn & king snakes. HUGE thanks to Kate-Lynn and Emma for helping out, I could not have managed without them. They both did an amazing job helping people connect with all the snakes’ various personalities, I was so proud of them both.
